The Boost Barracks Chronology, 2016 — work in progress



The biography of The Boost Barracks, 2017 - ongoing

The chart uses a grid system, with rows for different barracks (organized by city and name) and columns for time periods (1938–current). Each cell is shaded in different colors of yellow, green, dark green, orange, pink and light blue, indicating different eras, wars, or thematic shifts (e.g., WWII, Cold War, asylum seeker periods, redevelopment) and blank. This grid rehearses a chronological matrix where spatialities and temporalities intersect. The table is text-heavy, with some cells filled with dense narrative description and others containing only brief factual notes. It also mirrors the logics of institutional archiving, linear, segmented, and compartmentalized, while also exposing how memory is organized and categorized yet shouldn’t be overlooked and unseen.

이 리서치를 체계적으로 지속가능한 방향으로 그리고 시각적으로 이끌어가기 위해 만들기 시작한 보우스트 막사의 연대기 차트이다. 세로줄은 도시와 이름별로, 가로줄은 1938 년부터 현재까지의 시간대를 나타낸다. 각 셀은 노란색, 초 록색, 진초록색, 주황색, 분홍색, 연파랑 등 서로 다른 색으로 채워져 있는데, 이는 서로 다른 시대, 전쟁, 혹은 주제적 전환 (예: 제2차 세계대전, 냉전, 한국전쟁, 인도네시아 전쟁, 난민 수용 시기, 재개발 등)을 표시하며, 비워져있는 칸도 있다. 이 격자는 공간성과 시간성이 교차하는 연대기적 구조를 예행 연습하듯 시각화한다. 표는 텍스트 중심으로 구성되어 있으며, 어떤 셀은 서사적 설명이 빽빽하게 들어차 있고, 어떤 실은 간단한 사실 정보만 담고 있다. 이 표는 제 도적 아카이빙의 논리를 반영한다 — 선형적이고, 구획화되고, 세분화된 구조이지만 동시에 기억이 어떻게 체계화되고 분류되는지를 드러내며, 하얗게 남겨진 비어있는 칸처럼 사실 확인이 안되는 일들도 있다.
